The project restructures the existing museum site by demolishing two buildings and adding two new ones. A public inner court is turned into the central space from which the public can choose to enter one of the seven separate buildings. Every building has is own character and use, such a treasury for the permanent collection, a loft tower for contemporary installations, a pavilion for temporary exhibitions, and smaller buildings for staff, education, catering and an artist residence. The different buildings are joined underground by a large open depot space.
