On the Zeeburg Island in the east of Amsterdam the Ring Road motorway crosses the access road to the city centre. This strategic position at three scales - regional, central and local - enables this area to develop into a key intersection at the gateway to the city. As a first step a transportation hub was made around which other metropolitan functions for distribution and leisure activities can unfold. The position along the waters of the IJ is exploited by designing a marina, making a great location for a hotel, a yachting club and a residential district.
