Almere Hout is a new residential neighbourhood for about 40.000 inhabitants and part of the fast growing new town of Almere. The idea of the urban planning scheme was to provide a simple but flexible plan that could work as a basis for a long time development, where changes over time could be easily absorbed. The plan is based on a grid system for the parcellation, with very easy rules and regulations. A city bank of plots and a city bank of plans enforce the wish of the City to develop the neighbourhood by individual buildings of private clients.
