The Groninger Forum is a new centre for arts and media. The main idea of the project is to continue the public domain of the city into the building. A big cantilever over the square forms a public hall for covered markets, concerts or expositions. The public domain continues upwards into the great void space of the building, all the way to the public roof terrace. The front of the building makes a frame towards the square: a window on the city and a screen for projections. At the back the building culminates in a bell-tower, a new mark in the skyline of the city. The fašade of the building has a filigree texture of stacked ceramic elements.
