The Louvre museumdepot and conservation facility is designed in harmony with the the green and sloped site of the Louvre Lens museumpark in Liévin, France. The ground floor of the triangular building is part of a vegetated earthen embankment, a natural barrier that ensures the safety of the important art collection. The glass crown on top of the embankement overlooks the entire site and gives a transparent and sophisticated expression to the building. Facing the museumpark, a cantilever in the façade announces the main entrance. All depots, ateliers, workshops and offices are layed-out in logical order within the triangular floorplan. A central corridor runs across the entire building at two levels allowing for easy handling of all art.
