The Antwerp coordination center is a 80 m. high control tower that stands as a sculptural beacon on the sea locks of the Antwerp harbour, welcoming the ships from far away. The top of the tower forms a horizontal volume that floats on two assymetrical colomns. This volume houses the traffic control center where all the busy shipping traffic is guided from the North sea into the harbour of Antwerp. The colomns originate from a monumental base that contains the facilities related to the locks and forms a bandstand where the public can overlook the incoming ships on the river Scheldt.
